The full Snow Moon

moon:
noun
1. the earth’s natural satellite, orbiting the earth

verb
2. to sentimentalize or remember nostalgically: They spent the day mooning about their lost love.

I watched the moon set during the frantic get-ready-for-school-routine in the morning. Then I mooned about all day. Then I watched the moon rise in the evening. The slideshow is of the evening’s moonrise.

The bachelor group of deer was around this morning for the first time since early fall.

The two young males were with a smaller deer. Sadly, the large buck wasn’t with the gang.

I’m pretty sure the large buck was shot, but AM hoping deer bachelor groups break up just like people.
I don’t care if someone killed the deer if they eat it, but I really wanted to find its shed before a final physical farewell…definitely mooning material. (:

I’ve walked behind this deer for years hoping to snatch up his horns. I always come out of the woods with a ton of raccoon pictures… I’ll never beat the raccoons at grabbing horn treasures.

I'm a raccoon and I love to eat deer horns.

  3. Rarely see racoons – only in the early AM; however, I’ve had to hold on my garbage can lids with bungee cords to keep the rascals out.

They keep taking my suet feeder down and tearing it apart. My deck is covered with their muddy prints. (:

LOVE the moon rising! I was able to capture her orangeness just before she went behind the clouds and when she finally emerged, she was boring old white again. ;)
That raccoon wouldn’t last long around these parts. With 15 hunting hounds, it would “on the popcone (slang for popcorn, you know, to rhyme with on)”

I’m not kidding saying it took me reading “on the popcone” six times aloud before I did actually get how it would rhyme with the “on”. (: Fun stuff. I love reading/decoding my Texan friends enunciation’s.

    • Okay so, maybe I had too much red wine when typing this last night. So it should read, “it’s on like popcone”, and I’m not sure why I came up as anonymous.

I’m giggling…so maybe I had too much white wine to read well. You know my wordpress account logged me out on its own several times yesterday. Maybe it was a maintenance thing. (: I’m SO excited to see what the foals are going to look like!

  5. Oh that raccoon is tricky, looking all cute but ready to go all wild and animal-y (did I just say animal-y?) on you. I tried to pet one when I was a kid. It didn’t turn out well!

I can see your face scrunching up at the growling and hissing. Love your face that can look smashing in red lipstick. (:
