I’m huge

A  Banded Argiope missing a hind leg. The grasshopper with the missing leg is still hanging out in the front garden too.  They are harmless like most spiders and  are capable of consuming insects up to twice their size.

  1. I love all of the photographs but the second last one is spec. Your title made me think you had suddenly developed a weight problem – Ha!

Thanks Julie! I did start working and my workout time is limited so I do feel as if I’m about to have a weight problem. (:

It seems that everyone likes the picture looking up into the pines. Add me to that list. I also love the last pic with the deciduous (red maple?). The one with the barn gets some raves – now the spider webs -love the intricacies of the webs but have you ever run into one before you saw it? Starting this time of year in Virginia, carry a waving stick in front of you while walking. They even build webs overnight across door openings. YUCK!!!!!!

Louis I run through spider webs many mornings on the trails. I only go into the tall grass where these ones are when I can see them so I avoid destruction. (:

  6. Great shots Melissa! Looks like you are getting some moisture there. We had a little bit last week but now it’s dried up. I like the web shots and of course….the trees. :)

  10. When I was little my siblings and I called those kinds of spiders “Banana Spiders” they used to make their webs all over our back porch, Anyways, your photos are beyond beautiful and I wish I was as talented as you!

Thanks Nate. I feel the same regarding your talent for hilarious writing! (for the love, I even misspelled “hilarious” typing that..I give up on writing) Banana spiders because of the color? I’d never seen them until a few years ago.
