I smell like fire
Went camping this past weekend…..

Canoeing on Hamlin Lake… the girls mentioned how they prefer zipping around on Aunt Jodi’s jet ski “waaaayyyy” more than canoeing while we paddled back into the wind.

American Redstart… first time seeing one.

Gray-headed Catbird. In field guides the catbird is described as illusive. This one sat on our picnic table most of the weekend and tried pecking open a container of carrots.
The deer at the campground were also tame. This one is in a small ditch.
A new bluebird family is in the works…. she laid her third egg yesterday.

This spring I dug up most of the garden to thin it out. Looks like I’ll be digging it up for years. It’s crowded!

The water lily photos are lovely. And the woodpecker’s holes photo raises my hair…like when I see a honeycomb hehehe. I also like the sunlight against the grasses.

Jomegat, I think they know how to tease their Mom like champs too. They know I made these same canoe trips as a kid with my siblings so they definitely see it as old-fashioned. (;

Thank you so much. The bee spent about the same length of time on each bud, but I didn’t notice its consistency until I chased the bee around the garden for several minutes.

well of course it is! suppose I was thinking i’d rather not be there to behold it in michigan winter; of course, with us having consecutive days of 110-plus in dallas right now, that’s brutal even for texas summer and especially still in june. tell your computer i’m praying for the Divine’s healing power upon it and if the problem persist trying throwing it against a tree and stomping on it; that’ll give relief even if it doesn’t help the computer. (let me know if you need anymore of this online pastoral care and counseling, dear.)

But Rev, snow can be very beautiful. Let’s be happy for our Michigan friend that she doesn’t live on the Upper Peninsula as I’ve heard tales about that place.
I guess I can say it is beautiful because we do not get much snow from the normal west to east weather flow due to the orographic effect (when the mountains squeeze out the moisture) thus us folks east of the mountains do not get much snow. When we DO get a doozy it is almost always caused by having a high pressure in Canada sending us cold air and a nor’easter coming up the coast at the same time. This happens infrequently (perhaps every 5 to 10 years) and then we get snow measured in feet instead of inches and it can stay on the ground for a month instead of a day.
