do people choose their thoughts?

Can people choose their thoughts and therefore think thoughts that bring them happiness and peace?

If not..I suggest getting lazy and not giving a crap in order to bring happiness and peace.

An Eastern Bluebird

Downy Woodpecker…. they look like the Hairy Woodpecker, but the Hairy is bigger.

I’ve memorized that the Hairy Woodpecker is the larger of the two woodpeckers by picturing me and my sister’s 80’s hairstyles while saying “Hairy- we had big hair”.

We were so permed we didn’t even realize we had naturally wavy hair for years. So the lesson on hairy vs. downy woodpecker identification boils down to a simple equation.

big pecker=big hair=Hairy Woodpecker

This is a small guy, a Downy Woodpecker. The female doesn’t have the red patch at the back of her head nor the propensity to chase her mates away from food.

Love your thoughts on the birds.
My husband talks to birds… it’s strange yet somehow endearing to me. LOL Once, when he replaced the windows in our room but hadn’t covered the framing outside, we woke up to this loud banging. There was a woodpecker, pecking our wood!

    Have a great week.

Bethanne- hope you have a great week and your little guy is feeling better soon. There are a lot of cedar shingled houses in the area that the woodpeckers are always creating large holes trying to nest inside. (: Holy Houses.

  7. Love the photos of the birds, especially the woodpecker. I posted a few recently on my blog too. My problem though is identifying them easily when I see them.

I’ll have to go check them out! It’s really taken years of seeing the same birds over and over.

Snow in the amount of 3 inches here last night. Almost gone, but I got some grab shots anyway.
