Melissa Fischer. wild in Michigan. naturalist

wet and wild

Downy Woodpecker. The woodpecker's frozen stance means there's a hawk in the area.

There it is…

A hawk in the rain. Michigan's winter weather seems to be waiting for the actual calendar start of winter. It's unusual not to have a few snow systems move through in November or December.

Soaked soft-serve. Male or Female turkey scat? circle one.....

clue: not the pooper

My hubby told me not to let the birds poop on the patio and that this one looked at him before doing the deed. (: I swear I didn’t pay her.

      • And happy weekened to you and all of the Melissa Not Dusting followers; you’re establishing a cult following here, M., not unlike that of the Cult of the Jitterbug, God help you. Hope you & the fam have a good weekend and get to enjoy lots of outdoors.
“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established; what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them? Yet you have made them a little lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honor. You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth.” Ps 8

      • I’m not sure about this cult thing. C’mon Rev. – you know me better than that! I just like Mellissa’s work and HEY – you were the one that sent me here in the first place. You were right! No end times beliefs or other cheesy stuff here, dude but I did learn about male turkey poop, lol.

  8. Melissa, your photos are such a delight, not to mention your funny remarks. But, you’re right, it’s so great to be living near an area so rich in wildlife.

Happy Friday and have a great weekend. :-)

    • I know what you mean, Bob. She takes great photos – I usually shoot my foot. She is comical – I try and usually come up short. She is young and attractive – I’m a white-haired, ugly, old burned-out hippie! Hey, we both live in rural areas with a lot of wildlife!!!!!!!

Thanks Louis! I’d say I’m “younger”, but not young. (:

Do you see many deer in your area?

        December 16, 2011 at 2:42 pm

      • Thanks Melissa. I feel thirty in my head (if that counts) – the problem – my body does not feel thirty and sometimes won’t cooperate!

Thanks Bob, you’re too kind. It’s finally cold so maybe I’ll get some deer pictures soon.

Hope you and Ann have a wonderful weekend too!

      • Melissa, I am not a hunter like most of “the good ole boys” so they seem to have taken refuge here. Quite often I see deer grazing like cattle in my yard or out in a 4 acre field.
