The colder it is, the closer they come.

An Eastern Bluebird perched on Sumac berries. I spear the Sumac into the summer flower pots. The birds flock to the berries and use the branches to crack open the hard outer shell of sunflower seeds.

A male… the female flies in, eats and leaves without perching over the top of the food source checking out the surroundings. Is she lazy or efficient?

  1. I go with efficient. I have, in fact, always wished there were more females in positions of power and there would be a more peaceful world run more efficiently!

I’m with you Louis… I think the probability of an attack is slim since there’s enough open area to easily spot a hawk and take cover. (: Thank you so so much for that awesome deer photo. It is rare to have that many bucks together…especially older guys like that!

Thanks Bob- you made my day (: Are you still in the cold?? We are having another RAINY December day.. (50°F!) I have a feeling we’ll have a snowy April in exchange.

      • Just cold (40 degrees) and drizzly. Colder than normal for here. But in a couple of days it will be nice again, back in the 60s. I hope to get out and get some pics by mid-week.

We’ve had a few days of the drizzle. It makes for dark days and not great photos for sure!
