Lisa I researched it a bit and thought maybe she happened to have a complete head molt instead of the regular few feathers at a time molt. BUT she’s been bald since late June and not one feather is growing back…so I am at a loss as to what the deal is. I’m glad she seems otherwise healthy. She hasn’t lost any weight, feeds regularly and is still keeping a lose eye on her last brood of young. ? Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Her feathers are back! (ugly, but present as local temps drop)

  4. Oh goodness, I feel horrible for her. I want to knit her a little hat – and I dont knit. She could have been friends with my mostly featherless parrot, he only had feathers on head, wings and tail.

She really seems strong other than the lack of head feathers so it thankfully hasn’t been heart breaking. I hope I can say that after winter weather arrives. If you did knit I’m sure it would be the perfect colorful and funky cap. You’re so crafty you’ve made people (: xoxo
