A sexy claw to the face

Female painted turtles receive soft toenail strokes on their faces from potential mates.

A Painted Turtle. I'm going to guess that this is a female looking to lay her eggs. I first noticed her in the garden in the morning and then again in the afternoon in the tall grass far away from the pond. The temperatures are ideal for egg laying too....in the mid-80's F.

It’s my cleaner of two lenses… one I use when my hands aren’t covered in gardening mud. (:

      • I know what you mean. :) I have a collection of “clean lenses” that are tucked away for client shoots and the ones I for hikes and brandings are filthy and a little beat up.

I was going to ask you how/what you did to keep a camera handy and clean enough knowing you take professional photos all the time. You’ve got a great system figured out Leah! I drove to upper Michigan (a 10 hour drive) with my parents this weekend and filled quite a bit of time telling them about your some what new ranching lifestyle in Wyoming. (:

Thanks so much! I didn’t see it standing there and it spooked me a little when I finally noticed it right next to me. (:
