It’s been too busy and cold and wet to capture anything new. Here are more pictures from the farm in Cedar, Michigan.

Canada Violet. These transplant well into a garden. This one was deep in the woods.

Marsh Marigold. It's a type of buttercup not marigold.


Butterflies “puddle” or gather on wet soil to ingest minerals. When puddling butterflies pump fluid through the digestive tract and release fluid from their anus.

      Thanks. The ground was wet and if it flew off it always circled around and landed in a close spot. It hung around for about 15 minutes despite two loud young boys running around and screaming by it!
