Happy Mother’s Day- We’re expecting!

We’re expecting a nest box full of eggs since a female wren recently joined the male wren in the yard.
Typically she approves the nest the male builds ,then dissembles and rebuilds the nest before laying eggs. Today they were busy with rebuilding the nest.

Wrens have a habit of piercing the eggs of other birds. I have enough boxes that this sort of destructive behavior is unnecessary. I didn't know this before now. If they pierce a bluebird egg I'd be tempted to wipe our their nest.

I saw a lot of red-breasted nuthatches two winters ago, but this is the first I’ve seen since.
