losing limbs

These turkeys have been showing up the past few mornings. The leader of the group looks old.

The brown part of this leaf bug is strange. Seriously click to enlarge the picture and check it out. 'One of the characteristics of this insect is, if not handled with great care, it has a tendency to lose a leg rather easily. If the bug is not fully grown, it will replace the leg the next time it moults, but once it becomes a fully grown adult, a lost limb will not be regrown.' per Now that seems a little cooler than humans.

Tree frogs are everywhere. One jumped on my chest a few weeks ago when I went outdoors to see a meteor shower. It was dark and I freaked out after swatting the frog off.... and just hoping it wasn't hanging out on me.

Love the turkeys! And the tree frog jumping on you? I’d still be freaked out :)
