I’m ready to kick some skunk a*%, but then everyone’s gotta eat right?

A young snapping turtle out and about to lay her eggs. She was ready to launch herself off her back legs when I approached.

The last picture of the chickadees before they were snacks.

A skunk (or racoon) ravaged chickadee nest. I'm spending tomorrow buying baffles for all the bird houses. I don't even mind how skunks smell, but I hate them this week.

Female Baltimore Oriole. She doesn't fly away anymore when I walk by the windows like the first day or two she hung out.

Red-breasted (belly buttoned?) Woodpecker enjoying an orange.

The second nest and attempt for the robin

I went out to pick up the chickadee nesting box and saw her big diamond head following me. So fun.

Oh, no! I’m so sad about the ravaged chickadee nest!!!!! ((sigh)) Darn skunk (or raccoon)…could it be a cat?

Wow – great posts & photos, Melissa! Last year we had a hanging chickadee nest ravaged by something – so sad. The adults looked so confused. And that birdhouse is somehow marked as stigmatized property because they haven’t been back to it!
